How to Stop LinkedIn from Using YOUR Name & Photo to Advertise

Apparently the "World's Largest Professional Network," LinkedIn, decided to take a page out of Facebook's playbook and use not only our names, but also our photos for their advertising. Fortunately, they gave us a choice to decline this practice without actually deleting our LinkedIn accounts; unfortunately, however, they opted us all in without obvious notice.

So, here is how to stop them from using your name and photo:

1) Login to your LinkedIn account.

2) Click on the top right corner, where your name is displayed, then go to "settings."

3) Scroll to the bottom of the page, then click on "Account."

4) Now, click on the link titled, "Manage Social Advertising" under the "PRIVACY CONTROLS."
5) Here, you'll find a check box which allows you to opt-out of them using your name & photo for advertising.
Notice how they checked the box for you already. Thoughtful!

6) Click on the check box (to uncheck it), then click save.

After this, LinkeIn should no longer use your photo and name for their own advertising purposes.
That's all for now; that is, until they decide to come up with another exciting new way to use your info.
